Streeting says assisted dying bill passing into law will come at expense of other NHS services

Health secretary Wes Streeting has claimed the assisted dying bill passing into law would “come at the expense” of other NHS services.

The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill will be debated and likely voted on on 29 November, the first Commons vote on assisted dying since 2015.

Speaking on Times Radio today (13 November), Mr Streeting confirmed that assisted dying had not been budgeted.

The health secretary said: “If parliament chooses to go ahead with assisted dying, it is making a choice that this is an area to prioritise for investment.”
