Stranger Things fans have been left panicking after Netflix hinted that one much-loved character could die in the finale.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Netflix shared a photo of a huge billboard which simply reads: "Protect Steve."
They captioned the post: "AT ALL COSTS!!!" and users immediately began fearing the worst.
Replying to the tweet, one fan wrote: "if anyone lays a finger on him it’s over!!"
Another said: "STAY AWAY FROM STEVE !!!!" while a third person joked: "My therapy charges are coming to you if my man Steve dies."
Another fan said: "if you’re tweeting this to make me THINK he will survive and he doesn’t y’all WILL have to hear from me until vecna gets me himself!! i’m so serious too."
Steve Harrington, played by Joe Keery, has been a fan favourite ever since Stranger Things season one dropped on Netflix back in 2016.
However, other fans began to panic that it could be Eddie Munson who dies instead.
One person tweeted: "This better not mean that Eddie is going to die instead," while another said: ""If any how Eddie dies you will be hearing from my lawyers."
Speaking to Variety recently, twin brothers Matt and Ross Duffer - who created the show - touched on rumours that Steve could die in the finale.
The person interviewing the siblings announced she was going to fire some questions at them and simply said: "I'm worried about Steve."
"Everyone's worried about Steve," they replied laughing, as they interviewer asked: "How lethal do we think being bitten by a demo bat is?"
Matt replied: "I wouldn't worry about the bat thing, that's more my thing. I have this thing, I'm worried about bats, so that was just me, I was just fixating on bats at the moment when I wrote that."
The interviewer then probed: "So he might die some other way?" to which Matt simply replied: "If he's gonna die, it's not gonna be from the bat bite."
Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2 lands on Netflix on Friday 1 July.
