It’s hard to get too entrenched in the annoyances of adult life when your seat has a case of the wiggles. For a certain set of good-humored interior designers, wavy furniture has become a kind of shortcut to playfulness – a reminder not to treat life, or design, so seriously.
That’s certainly the case inside a London family home by Gunter & Co, where designer Irene Gunter reworked an awkward, aging layout with a lighter touch, tempering antique references with the deliberate whimsy of Studio Sam’s Astoria dining chairs, their wavy backs echoing the controlled irregularity of the Noguchi Museum in New York.
