They were once the power couple that fans thought would never split - and Stormzy has now opened up on his painful break-up from Maya Jama, admitting that he "made mistakes".
After meeting back in 2014, the pair began secretly dating a year later until they sadly split shortly after Maya's birthday in 2019.
The grime artist, 29, famously referenced the break-up in his hit Lessons and, in a new candid interview with Louis Theroux, bares his soul as he shares his feelings over his split from Maya, 28.
Addressing the repercussions of the end of his relationship with Maya, Stormzy says: "My break-up, that was probably the biggest catalyst for growth as a man.
“It was like, OK, you made a mistake and you lose someone you loved, someone you cared for, someone who is special to you.
"That’s probably the biggest loss a man can have, isn’t it? Away from someone passing away, that’s the biggest loss you can have."
Referring to the "whole f***ing palaver that surrounded that situation", he says that there were "other mistakes [he'd] made".
He adds: "I didn’t do what a man should do to fully appreciate love, and care for his woman.”
While Stormzy has always denied cheating on Maya, he says that he's keen to learn lessons about his behaviour and that he "[doesn't] want to feel like that again".
Speaking to Louis from his enormous plush home in south west London, with his numerous glittering awards adorning the walls, he also speaks about how he is currently renovating a second home where he is hoping to move to when he has a family.
“I do want a family of my own and I want to get married and I want to settle," he says. "My idea of an amazing future is having my house and kinda running around and my missus there.
"And we’re going to eat dinner at the dinner table."
