Heavy rain that is set to lash the UK could “slow down” recovery efforts and increase the risk of flooding following three storms which battered the nation in a week.
As of yesterday, latest figures show 1.4 million households are still without electricity, some for up to 72 hours, after the storms – named Dudley, Eunice and Franklin – while just under 30,000 remain without power as of yesterday afternoon and residents in some areas told to evacuate
As a result, the Environment Agency has urged communities in parts of the West Midlands and the north of England, especially those along the River Severn, to be prepared for significant flooding until tomorrow following high rainfall from Storm Franklin.
