Storm Dudley: Met Office updates amber weather warning as wind batters Scotland this afternoon

The Met Office has issued an update to today's amber weather warning for wind as 80MPH winds are to batter Scotland.

Parts of the country will experience the chaos of Storm Dudley from 2pm this afternoon as the warning has been brought forward.

Previously, the amber wind warning was in place from 6pm but the Met Office has now updated the timings to mean the warning is in place from 2pm instead.

The warning will remain in place until 23:39PM tonight with a yellow warning also in place between 1PM today and 6AM tomorrow morning.

The forecasters warned that Storm Dudley winds of up to 80MPH across mostly exposed sites.

There is still some uncertainty in the timing and location of the strongest winds but inland gusts of 60-70MPH are likely, according to the Met Office.

A 'danger to life' warning has been issued as gusts are likely to create hazardous conditions due to fallen trees and flying debris.

Here is some more information including areas impacted and what to expect.
