Stolen BMW car parts and £55k in cash found in police raid

A large number of high performance car parts and a stash of cash were found after police raided a lock-up.

A 36-year-old man from the Anfield area was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences after Merseyside Police raided the lock-up on Friday, March 3. Officers from Merseyside Police's Pelican operation, an ongoing campaign to combat gang violence in north Merseyside, raided the lock-up where they found a large number of high performance car parts.

One of the parts has since been confirmed to belong to a BMW X4 M4OD which was stolen in 2022 during a burglary in Harrogate, Yorkshire. An image released by Sefton police officers showed a room full of car parts in a large pile.

Officers identified the suspected owner of the lock-up and tracked him to an address in Anfield. During a raid of his house officers recovered a safe which contained over £55,000 in cash.

The 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, handling stolen goods and money laundering. The man was taken into custody and was questioned by detectives.

He has since been conditionally bailed.
