Stockport County announce Champions Parade to celebrate Football League return

After an 11-year absence, Stockport County are finally back in the Football League, and will celebrate that feat with an open-top bus parade this afternoon. Dave Challinor’s side secured promotion and the National League title with a 2-0 win over Halifax Town yesterday.

They knew a point would be enough, but Paddy Madden's 25th goal of the season and Will Collar's strike ten minutes from time got the party well and truly started at a rocking Edgeley Park. The celebrations will continue today, as the club have announced players and fans can enjoy the club's success together with an open-top bus parade across the town.

Before boarding the bus, the players and management will attend a private ceremony at Stockport Town Hall to commemorate their incredible work, before setting off on their route at 4:30pm.

From the town hall, the bus will make its way down Greek Street and onto Mercian Way, before turning onto Hardcastle Road. It will then finish back at Edgeley Park around 4:50pm, with supporters encouraged to line the streets and celebrate together with the players and staff.

There will then be a chance for fans to get inside the ground in time to see the trophy presented to the Hatters once more. That is expected to commence at 5:45, with the players set to be called out one by one before lifting the trophy in front of the Cheadle End.

The 2021/22 end of season awards will take place just after the trophy lift, with the players set to leave the field around 7pm.
