Stockport beer and cider festival back after three years and heading to Edgeley Park

The Stockport Beer and Cider Festival is to return after a three-year, pandemic-related hiatus, and will happen at Edgeley Park, home to the newly promoted Stockport County. It’ll kick off June 16, before winding up on June 18.

The event is being organised by the Stockport and South Manchester branch of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale. It’ll boast a range of more than 250 beers, ales, stouts, ciders and perries.

There will also be food stalls, competitions and live entertainment. Many of the ales have been sourced from within a 30 mile radius of the festival, among the closest being the iconic Robinsons, which is supplying six beers, alongside Stockport Brewing, Thirst Class and Steelfish Brewing.

There will also be beers from Chadkirk Brewery in Romiley, Made of Stone from Bramhall, P-Noot brewery from Denton, and Libatory Brewing, who produce their beers from a garden shed in Timperley.

Also on offer will be five beers from local home brewers, who won a competition in 2020 for the chance to to have their beers brewed at a commercial brewery, as well as ciders from Madhatters from Norris Bank in Stockport, SiDa from Macclesfield and Dunham Press Cider.

Organiser Jim Flynn said: “After the uncertainty of the last two years, it’s a great relief to be bringing back a huge variety of different beers, ciders and perries to the people of Stockport and further afield. Our volunteer organising team has managed to perform miracles in a very short time, and I am sure that there will be something to please everybody.

“Reduced-price advance tickets are available from our website and we have ample seating in the stands. So come along and raise a toast to Stockport County, overlooking the pitch where they won promotion a few short weeks ago!”

The Thursday session runs from 5.30pm to 11pm on June 16, and from noon to 11pm on June 17 and 18. For more details and tickets, check out the festival website.
