Stiliyan Petrov issues 'dangerous for Scottish football' Celtic warning

Stiliyan Petrov insists Celtic's dominance is a danger to Scottish football.

The former Hoops star believes that his old club competes only with themselves, and not with the other clubs in the Premiership.

It comes as Celtic look certainties to record another treble come the end of this season.

Ange Postecoglou's side defeated Rangers 1-0 at Hampden on Sunday, with Jota netting the only goal.

It means heading into the post-split fixtures that Celtic are unbeaten in all five of the derby fixtures against the Light Blues so far this campaign.

Petrov pointed out that much of Celtic's success is purely down to Postecoglou and how he operates to stem that progression.

But the Bulgarian cannot see any team being able to compete with Celtic for some time.

"They're quite far ahead," Petrov told Sky Sports. "Recruitment, financially and playing style - if you look at these three pyramids, you can see that Celtic are way out ahead.

"What they have to do now is to add and recruit well again.

"Ange Postecoglou has shown that he wants to develop the team, the club, and their mentality. He wants to move forward every single time. Not every year, but every game, every opportunity, and with every result.

"That's what he's brought to the club. That belief is that the club is going in the right direction and that they don't look back. They don't compete with anybody else, they compete with themselves which is dangerous for Scottish football."

Petrov was speaking after his foundation made donations to Beatson Cancer Charity and Glasgow Children Hospital Charity.
