Free spaces are available on a series of kids summer camps that will be taking place during the school holidays.
The Go Wild camps give P7 youngsters the chance to learn about the great outdoors, with activities covering everything from den building to wildlife identification.
They aim to teach children that the great outdoors is accessible, often free and lots of fun – and it’s also a chance for pupils to meet and make friends ahead of starting secondary school.
The scheme is being overseen by Galloway Glens education and community engagement officer, Jan Hogarth, who said: “Go Wild summer day camps are a fantastic opportunity for young people to make new friends, learn very useful outdoor skills, explore wildlife and conservation and have lots and lots of fun ahead of starting secondary school.
“Its free and delivered by outdoor teachers and professionals.
“Most of all, young people will make new memories from an experience which will foster a love of nature and the great outdoors for the rest of their lives.”
Everyone taking part in the five day camps will receive a John Muir Trust Discovery award.
They are completely free with transport offered to people living within the Galloway Glens area.
They are particularly aimed at people who will be attending Kirkcudbright Academy, Castle Douglas High or Dalry High.
