Stevenage wasted no time in sticking the knife into Leeds United supporters after the Aston Villa defeat. A 2-1 loss at Villa Park was the Whites’ seventh game without a win in all competitions.
Just days earlier, League Two outfit Stevenage stunned Unai Emery’s men in the FA Cup third round. Despite trailing with two minutes to go, goals from Jamie Reid and Dean Campbell completed a remarkable turnaround. The Boro eliminated Premier League opposition in the tie of the round and set up a clash against Championship side Stoke City.
Leeds, however, felt the full wrath of Villa’s revenge when they lost on Friday night. Not even a late fightback from Patrick Bamford, making his first appearance since October, could save a point for Marsch and Co.
