Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day has been keeping schtum about the exact shape or form the interstellar 'threat' is taking in the director's new sci-fi movie.
Now, it seems, the latest trailer has given the game away somewhat.
In the clip at the 25-second mark, which you can see below, a creature's ultra-thin fingers wrap around the face of a child in sinister fashion.
So, if anyone was expecting something a little more cuddly in the vein of E.T. or even the extraterrestrials in Close Encounters of the Third Kind, you might be sorely disappointed. The spindly fingers remind us of the creatures – yes, we know they're not technically aliens – near the end of A.I. Artificial Intelligence.
What their intentions are and what they want with humanity is still under wraps, however. It all forms part of Disclosure Day's premise, which sees Josh O'Connor's Daniel aim to uncover a wider, potentially cosmic, conspiracy after Emily Blunt's weather reporter Margaret unwittingly communicated a message whose origins don't emanate from Earth.
Ironically, despite the alien reveal, Spielberg has recently gone on the record at CinemaCon to say the trailers don't spoil Disclosure Day – right down to nothing of the third act being shown in marketing. So, it's up to you whether you consider an alien hand to be a spoiler.
Disclosure Day, also starring Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo, hits cinemas on June 12.
