Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard says Erik ten Hag is a 'fantastic' manager, but admits 'nobody will care' what he thinks about the appointment.
The Manchester club confirmed the appointment of the Ajax boss on Thursday and he's set to take charge at the end of the campaign. The announcement ends a five month search for a new manager, meanwhile Ralf Rangnick has been in charge as interim since the end of November.
Gerrard himself made the step into Premier League management this season as he took the reigns at Aston Villa late last year after they parted ways with Dean Smith. After three years in Scotland with Rangers, the former Liverpool captain has challenged himself with one of England's most historic clubs.

Liverpool once again inflicted a heavy defeat on their Manchester rivals with a 4-0 win at Anfield on Tuesday night. The victory laid clear the gulf in class between the two sides and Gerrard says the job ahead of Ten Hag at United is going to be 'huge'.
"Manchester United are a very big football club," he told his press conference on Friday. "Obviously the project he's got there, where they are at the moment, their current form, of course it's going to be huge [the job]."
He added with a smile: "It's none of my business. I've got my hands full here, with the project and the challenge here. I'm very excited about that.
"There's a lot of football to be played before he comes in the doors. He's a fantastic manager, a fantastic CV, he's been very successful at Ajax. I like the style, I've followed them for many years. I've seen them do really well in European cup competitions as well.
"Obviously it's a very positive appointment from their point of view, but nobody in Manchester will care what I say about Manchester United."
