Steven Gerrard posts adorable photo of son with Thiago Alcantara after Liverpool request

Steven Gerrard has taken to social media to post an adorable picture of his son with Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

Gerrard was back at Anfield yesterday for Liverpool’s 0-0 Premier League draw with Chelsea. The Kop icon was working for BT Sport as a pundit.

Despite creating plenty of chances across the 90 minutes, Jurgen Klopp’s side failed to take any of them as his side’s Champions League hopes suffered another bruising setback. The Reds currently find themselves ninth in the table.

However, taking to Instagram on Sunday afternoon, Gerrard posted a picture of his son, Lio, with the Spanish international. The caption read: “Dad can I have a [camera emoji] with the pass master @thiago6.”

Speaking about Liverpool following their 0-0 draw with Chelsea on Saturday afternoon, Gerrard said: “I think there’s recognition there from Jurgen that he knows his team are not in a fantastic moment at the moment, but his team are fighting to get the small steps to build back up.

“It will improve naturally when they get big, big players back from injury. It will improve naturally when new signings settle more i.e. Gakpo, Nunez, we get more of a tune out of him.

“It will be a patient one, but in terms of where they can finish will probably depend on how quickly they can get the injuries back.

“They need to keep building on the last two performances because there’s more positives in them two, and there’s enough time to put a run of fixtures to get into the top four, but I think now if Jurgen could sign up to get into the top four and win the FA Cup right now, I think he’d sign up for it.”

Gerrard was sacked by Aston Villa back in October after just 11 months in charge of the Midlands club. Gerrard's sacking was announced immediately after his side suffered a comprehensive 3-0 defeat against Fulham at Craven Cottage - Villa's sixth defeat in just 11 Premier League games at the time.
