Steve Kerr has been named the Western Conference Coach of the Month for February. The veteran head coach, who has led the Golden State Warriors to four championships, presided over an 11-3 record throughout the month. His team has turned a corner since returning from the All-Star break.
This marks the eighth time Kerr has won a Coach of the Month award. However, it’s his first recognition since January 2019. The Warriors have struggled for consistency this season but are still within touching distance of the sixth seed, which would allow the franchise to avoid a difficult play-in tournament.
Kerr, 58, recently signed a two-year contract extension with the Warriors worth $35 million. The deal will see him remain on the sidelines through the 2025-26 season. His future with the franchise had been a discussion point during the season’s opening months.

Kerr will likely look to quickly move on from his award. The Warriors have a significant challenge on their hand over their remaining games. As such, Kerr will likely aim to keep distractions at a minimum, as the Warriors continue to target a potential run to the NBA Finals.
