Steve Kerr reacts to Draymond Green’s ejection vs. Cavs

A defining moment of the Golden State Warriors’ loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night came when tensions flared in the third quarters.

After Cavs wing Caris LeVert cashed in a fast break layup, Donovan Mitchell made a straight line for Draymond Green as he was dribbling the ball up the other end of the court. Mitchell quickly fouled Green, resulting in the two beginning to jaw at each other. Mitchell appeared upset about what happened previously on LeVert’s layup.

Following Mitchell’s foul on Green, the play went into replay review to determine if it would be a common foul or a technical. Following an extensive replay review, the official ruled Mitchell’s foul was common, but Green was also being assessed a technical for the previous play.

Green’s late technical was his second of the game. resulting in his first ejection of the season.

After Golden State’s 118-110 loss to Cleveland, Steve Kerr was asked about Green’s ejection. Kerr called the technical ruling “bizarre.”

They said he got a technical for elbowing Mitchell a couple plays before maybe. I had never heard of this rule, but apparently you can retroactively call a technical on someone from two plays before upon review.

I had no idea. There’s lots of plays I’d like to go back to from three years ago. I don’t know, that was bizarre.
