Steve Kerr opens up on halftime talk that spurred Warriors win

The Golden State Warriors secured a win against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.

Steve Kerr‘s team found a new gear in the second quarter after Draymond Green received a technical foul for his altercation with Desmond Bane. Golden State ramped up its execution in the third quarter as it looked to carve out a significant lead.

When speaking to the media after the game, Kerr revealed the discussion that took place in the locker room at halftime. It centered on taking control of the game in the third quarter and building on the team’s production in the final few minutes of the second.

“What we talked about at halftime was trying to take control of the third quarter,” Kerr said. “And find a stretch where we could get five or six stops in a row and open up a lead. … I just thought everybody played well. The ball was moving beautifully. A lot of great individual performances. It was fun to watch.”

With the win, the Warriors maintained their three-game cushion over the Houston Rockets, who are making a big push to enter the play-in tournament picture.

Kerr’s team must continue to stack wins and play at a high level if it wants to secure an opportunity to progress into the playoffs. An inconsistent season has left the Warriors facing an uphill battle, and this means they have no choice but to finish the season strongly.
