Head coach Steve Cooper says he is more motivated than ever, as Nottingham Forest target an immediate response to Wednesday night’s thumping.
Manchester City were a class apart at the Etihad Stadium as they toppled the Reds 6-0. But Cooper says his team must emerge stronger from a difficult night.
Far from being downbeat, the Welshman says he is even more determined to oversee Forest making an impact in the Premier League. And that starts by bouncing back against Bournemouth at the City Ground on Saturday.

Bade's delight
New Nottingham Forest defender Loic Bade says that it will be a ‘great honour’ to pull on the Garibaldi Red shirt after completing a deadline day move to the City Ground.
The Frenchman became the 21st and final signing of what was a busy transfer window for Forest over the summer. He has joined on a season-long loan from Ligue 1 side Rennes, with the deal said to include an option to make his move permanent for a fee of around £12 million next summer.
The 22-year-old joined the Ligue 1 side from Lens last summer, but saw his season at the club hampered by injury. He made a total of 19 appearances in all competitions in 2021/22.
A move to Forest now gives the centre-back a chance to test himself in the Premier League. After sealing his move, the player spoke of his happiness to arrive at the City Ground.
Mighten decision
Nottingham Forest winger Alex Mighten has confirmed he turned down offers from the Championship to sign for Sheffield Wednesday in League One.
The 20-year-old had struggled for game time under Steve Cooper last season and in the Premier League this term. Mighten only started five Championship games last season and appeared for seven minutes in the Reds' 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United.
Mighten sealed his loan move to Wednesday on Monday and played 80 minutes of the Owls' 3-1 Papa John's Trophy defeat to Bradford City. The Owls are currently third in the League One table after winning four of their opening six games.
Ahead of their home fixture with Barnsley on Saturday afternoon, Mighten confirmed there was interest from the Championship and revealed the reasoning behind joining Moore's side. He said: "There were other clubs in the Championship (interested me) but when the opportunity came around to join this club I was really invested in Sheffield Wednesday and the direction they are going in.
On the move
Striker Michy Batshuayi has “agreed” to sign for Fenerbahce, after a deadline day move to Nottingham Forest collapsed.
The Reds had made a late push to sign the 28-year-old from Chelsea before Thursday’s 11pm cut-off. However, the deal failed to go through, with the Blues said to have not sent the relevant paperwork in time.
Batshuayi is still set to be on the move this summer, however. Fenerbahce have announced he will link up with them, subject to passing a medical.
The Turkish outfit said in a statement: “Our club has made an agreement with the club for the transfer of Michy Batshuayi to our team. The football player comes to Istanbul to make the interviews, pass the health check and advance the process.”
