Steve Clarke has told his Scotland players to be wary of Georgia's challenge on Tuesday, despite being on cloud nine in their Euro 2024 bid.
The Tartan Army pulled off an outstanding 2-1 win over Norway on Saturday evening to claim all three points and put themselves massively in the driving seat for Euro 2024 qualification, though despite the victory in Oslo, they're far from done in the process and need to replicate their results if they are to go through.
That starts on Tuesday night against Georgia, who haven't had a bad qualifying campaign themselves. Donned with superb young talents such as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Georges Mikautadze and more, the eastern European outfit are a dark horse to qualify for the tournament - and that could see them stun Scotland, something that Clarke has warned against amid the Scandinavian stardom.
Clarke said: "All I can try to do is keep everybody’s feet on the ground and focus on the next game. Because if we mess it up on Tuesday night - if we don’t get three points - we’re looking back and thinking, ‘This could be a tough second half to the campaign’.
“I’m talking about my staff, my players. If you guys want to get excited you can. If the supporters want to get excited they can.
“But we have to stay focused. Hopefully we qualify and then we’ll get excited and look forward to the tournament. But first? Let’s get the required amount of points.
“You have to focus on the next game. The time for the players and the staff to get excited is actually when we’ve qualified. So don’t worry - I’ll bring them down to earth!”
The Tartan Army are on nine points from three games, whilst Georgia sit fourth having beaten Cyprus and drawn with Norway.
