Exeter Chiefs number eight Sam Simmonds has one again been released by England head coach Steve Borthwick as he whittles down his squad head of facing Italy on Sunday in the Second Round of the 2023 Guinness Six Nations.
Simmonds is one of four British and Irish Lions released in midweek, with Leicester scrum-half Ben Youngs, Sale Sharks lock Jonny Hill and Tigers winger Anthony Watson also out of the game.
Sale's Ben Curry and Bevan Rodd, and Leicester's Joe Heyes have also returned to their club.
Simmonds, Curry and Rodd could now all feature in Sunday's Premiership Rugby Cup semi-final at Sandy Park which kicks off at 1pm before England take on the Azzurri at Twickenham Stadium at 3pm.
