Stephen Robinson believes defensive lapses cost St Mirren dearly against St Johnstone.
The Buddies’ backline were all at sea for Nicky Clark’s opening goal, with the visitors cut open with ease for the home side’s second and third.
With the Paisley club also toothless up front, Robinson was disappointed his previously solid defence, which went into Saturday’s clash on the back of three clean sheets, came undone so easily in Perth.
Robinson said: “We gave ourselves a lot to do because it’s two defensive mistakes that put us behind
“We’ve been defensively very, very sound over the last period and we’ve made two defensive errors that cost us.
“When you’re not taking your chances you’ve got to be defensively strong, which we have been up to now.
“The result is very, very frustrating because there’s not much in the game.
“It looks like a hammering and it certainly wasn’t.
“Credit to them, they took their chances and for me in the key moments in the game we weren’t good enough.”
