- Celebrated horror author Stephen King has weighed in on the new Apple TV thriller Cape Fear , a 10-episode series based on John D. MacDonald’s 1957 novel The Executioners.
- The latest adaptation stars Amy Adams, Patrick Wilson, and Javier Bardem, following previous film versions in 1962 and 1991, which featured actors like Gregory Peck, Robert Mitchum, and Robert De Niro.
- King wrote on X, “It’s entertaining because it’s more f***ed up than Peter O’Toole on his birthday.” His comment came in response to another user who had opined, “Cape Fear is undeniably entertaining, but it is the most sloppily and ridiculously plotted series I have ever watched.”
- O’Toole, who starred in Lawrence of Arabia and died in 2013 at the age of 81, was famed for his hell-raising personality.
- “I say that with love and admiration,” the It author added.
