Republic of Ireland boss Stephen Kenny has been left seething after the penalty decision that saw his side defeated at Hampden.
It was a dream start for Kenny's men who went up 1-0 within the first 20 minutes through their captain John Egan. But Steve Clarke 's half-time team talked seemed to spark something in the Scotland side, with Jack Hendry heading home to level the scoring minutes into the second 45.
And things went from bad to worse for Ireland when Ryan Christie stepped up to give Scotland the lead from the spot after referee Sandro Schärer pointed to the spot. The decision came as Republic of Ireland's Alan Browne was deemed to handle the ball in the box amid a battle with Scott McTominay t o get on the end of a Christie cross. But Kenny isn't ready to let things go, insisting the decision was 'contentious' during his post match interview.
Speaking on BBC Sportsound following the final whistle, the Republic of Ireland boss said: "The penalty itself is contentious. It's very harsh.
"Looking at it there, seeing it before I came in, it seems that Alan Browne has been pushed by a Scottish player that has resulted in him raising his hands into an unnatural position if you like.
"It is very congested, but it seems that's the case."
