Stephen Humphrys has given Hearts fans an insight in what they can expect from him as a player as he revealed the transfer advice he received from Graeme Shinnie.
Robbie Neilson was desperate to bolster his attacking options following the long-term injury to Liam Boyce. It left the capital boss with Lawrence Shankland, Euan Henderson and Josh Ginnelly to carry the load with domestic and Europa Conference League matters set to make for a hectic schedule in Gorgie.
Despite his best efforts to land more than one addition, the striker was the only man to come through the door at Tynecastle on a season-long loan deal from Wigan. Neilson is set to look at the free agent market in the coming days to see who is available to add quality and boost the squad numbers for the Jambos. Humphreys admits he can't get wait to get started and the bonus of European football was an even bigger draw to making the move north of the border. He also revealed his chats with former Aberdeen and Inverness star Shinnie about the club and the SPFL in general.

He told Hearts TV: “I spoke to Graeme Shinnie about the SPFL in general and about Hearts. He said the facilities they’ve got are second to none and literally Premier League standard. The gaffer’s shown me around and they’re incredible.
“The fans have sold out their season tickets with 1,000 on the waiting list. You can feel the stature of the club. It’s a privilege to be here and I can't wait to get started.”
He continued: “It was huge, yeah. Even if there wasn’t the European football, but the fact that the club is going to be testing itself against the likes of Fiorentina, you don't get those opportunities at all in your career. To come here and test myself against teams like that and be involved in European competition, it was just impossible to say no to.
“I’m ready to get going. I’ve trained every day and had behind closed doors games at Wigan. On paper, I've not been playing 90 minutes but behind the scenes I’ve been keeping fit and playing matches throughout the week so I’m ready to go.
“I think just a winning mentality. Last season, we were excellent at Wigan. Even in the tough times, the lads stuck together. I’ve got a will to win and I’ll bring that competitive edge.
“I’d say I’m an honest player. The last season, I’ve not played as much as I’d have liked to. I like to think of myself as a goalscorer and someone who won't turn down a one-on-one; I’ll always try and beat my man. Two-footed and a bit of pace as well."
