Stephen Colbert is set to bring The Late Show to Chicago for the 2024 Democratic National Convention, with a lineup of notable guests joining him for live shows next week. The late-night host's stint in the Midwest will kick off on Monday, coinciding with the opening date of the DNC.
On Monday night, Colbert will be joined by Hillary Rodham Clinton and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who will also host her own panel during the convention. Tuesday's episode will feature Nancy Pelosi and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, while Wednesday's show will include Pete Buttigeg and a performance by Chance the Rapper. Details for the closing episode on Thursday have not been announced yet, with guests for that episode set to be revealed next week.
Each episode will be taped live from Chicago's Auditorium Theater, located near the United Center where most DNC events will take place. Colbert had previously announced these upcoming shows in April, expressing his excitement to broadcast from the beautiful Auditorium. In July, The Late Show aired live during the Republican National Convention, but those episodes were filmed at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City instead of traveling to Milwaukee for the event.
The 2024 Democratic National Convention is scheduled for Aug. 19-22 and will bring together Democrats from across the country to support Vice President Kamala Harris in her presidential campaign, with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate. The main activities will be held at the United Center, with additional events at the McCormick Place Convention Center. Over 50,000 attendees are expected to participate in this year's convention.
