Sports pundits and NFL analysts of all stripes came out of the woodwork Monday morning to rip the Dallas Cowboys after their embarrassing home loss to the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round Sunday, and ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith was right at the forefront of it all.
The noted Cowboys antagonist had a pointed message for quarterback Dak Prescott, who defended coach Mike McCarthy after the 48–32 loss. The coach’s job security is once again being questioned after yet another disappointing season, but Prescott made it clear that he supports McCarthy.
After seeing this, Smith took to First Take to rip Prescott for defending McCarthy, and Smith delivered some harsh words for the signal-caller.

“We don’t give a damn about Dak Prescott’s endorsement of Mike McCarthy!” Smith said Monday morning. “A matter of fact, if we do give a damn about it, it should be for the opposite reasons! The fact that Dak Prescott endorsed him is more of a reason he should be gone!”
"He's been amazing... I understand it's about winning the Super Bowl... so I get it, but add me to the list in that case."

Since McCarthy’s arrival in 2020, the Cowboys are just 1–3 in the playoffs, having reached the divisional round just once in that span despite posting 12-win seasons three years in a row.
