Steph McGovern 'in agony' as she shows off blistered face as Packed Lunch wraps

Steph McGovern admitted she was in "agony" as she revealed her face had erupted in blisters as Packed Lunch wrapped for the summer.

The journalist, 40, presents the Channel 4 show five days a week and revealed she always gets "poorly" after filming a long run.

Taking to Instagram, she shared a photo of her face in which two large blisters could be seen.

Explaining the worrying image, Steph said: “We’re coming to the end of this series of Packed Lunch (we’re on a summer break after tomorrow) and whenever I get to the end of a long run I get poorly.

“I’ve always had this whatever job I’ve been doing. I bet lots of people are the same.

“This time I have a bad ear infection and blisters in/around my ear/hair/face. It has been agony."

Steph told fans she'd been on a "load of different drugs" to try and treat the infection and ease the pain.

However she then explained that some of them were antibiotics, which had "totally buggered up my gut health".

Revealing one of the side effects, she revealed: "My IBS is back in full swing being a total b***h."

The mum-of-one signed off her post, saying: “Anyway, I’m not meaning to moan (it’s not a big deal in the grand scheme of things and I’ll be fine after some rest)

"I just wanted to explain why I’ve been a bit quieter on here," she added.

“And also to say, if you’re knackered/rundown/working too hard then please look after yourself and don’t let your health take a back seat like I have."

The presenter then went on to thank her team for supporting her.

“Ps. I should also say thanks to my amazing makeup team, who have been brilliantly disguising my hideousness on telly!” she quipped.

After posting the pics, Steph's fans flocked to the comments section, all wishing the star well.

One said: "One said sending love Steph. I hope you can chill and recover through the summer now. This is you body saying ENOUGH!"

As well as presenting Steph's Packed Lunch, the journalist has a child to look after.

Steph and her partner welcomed their daughter in November 2019.

Little is known about her other half or their child, with Steph previously telling Hello!: "It's not like I'm ashamed of anything in my life.

"It's more a case of I'm trying to lead as normal a life as I can.'"
