Steph Curry is a Golden State Warriors legend. He has helped lead the franchise to four championships, is a 10-time All-Star, and is arguably the greatest shooter in NBA history. Curry will be entering his age-36 season later this year; however, he still projects to be one of the most dangerous guards in the league and will shoulder a significant workload within Steve Kerr’s rotation.
While it may still be a few years away, Curry is closing in on retirement. He is in the final stretch of a fantastic career. During a recent interview with Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports, Curry admitted that he plans to retire with the Warriors, making him a one-team player for his entire career.
“I mean, I can clearly say I want to be a Warrior for life,” Curry said. “It’s always been my goal, and I’m saying that sitting in this chair right now, but like you said, life, and especially life in the NBA, it is a wild environment, and things change quickly.”
Curry has two more years left on his current $215 million contract. He has previously stated that he hasn’t ruled out playing into his 40s. As such, he may sign another deal to continue his career beyond 2026. Golden State would likely look to keep him in the Bay Area for the final years of his career.
Curry’s comment comes shortly after Klay Thompson ended his 13-year tenure with the franchise. After hitting unrestricted free agency, he joined the Dallas Mavericks in a sign-and-trade deal. However, Curry is clearly hoping that he doesn’t have to follow a similar route in the final stretch of his career.
