The Golden State Warriors lost their Christmas Day game to the Denver Nuggets, courtesy of an 18 free throw performance from Nikola Jokic. Despite their loss, the Warriors played a solid game on both sides of the court and were extremely active on the defensive end.
When speaking to the media after the game, Steph Curry noted how he wants to see more continuity from game officials. His comments came after what he believed was an inconsistent game from the referees, where physicality was allowed before the goalposts were moved and the officials started to blow their whistles.
“It does cater to the guys that can sell calls,” Curry said. “When there’s physicality, it’s tough because it’s inconsistent at times on either side; what’s the tone of the game. That’s the nature of basketball. But a night like tonight, you feel like it’s physicality on one side, and then kinda ticky-tack on the other. Then they get into the bonus and it changes the complexity of the game…Consistency is key when it comes to the game and knowing how you can defend.”
Curry’s comments came directly after Steve Kerr had shared his thoughts on Jokic’s ability to sell foul calls and get to the line. The Warriors head coach had noted how the NBA is legislating defense out of the game.

Curry and the Warriors will now hope to bounce back from their first loss in six games when they face the Miami Heat on Thursday (Dec. 28.)
