The critics of Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada have been quiet the last two weeks. Winning football and an effective run game is the best way to keep the vitriol at bay.
But if we are being honest, averaging 21.5 points per game against two bad football teams isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement. However, a win is a win so there is that. As good as those wins are, the spotlight is firmly on Canada this week as the Steelers prepare to take on the Baltimore Ravens.
We will all find out if the last two weeks have been a product of a well-crafted gameplan by Canada executed to perfection. Or were they more the product of underwhelming competition? On Sunday we will find out.
The Ravens are No. 2 in rush yards allowed and No. 9 in the NFL in points allowed. Pittsburgh’s most effective production in the last two weeks has been by running the football with a variety of players. Baltimore is built to stop the run so what will Canada do?
How Canada responds under this sort of pressure will go a long way toward his future at least in the eyes of fans. The team is winning and if Canada trots out a heavily-flawed gameplan, it could sign his ticket to being unemployed at the end of the season.
Let us know in the comments what you expect from Canada and the Steelers offense this week.
