The Cleveland Browns will likely face a Pittsburgh Steelers team with its top tight end back.
The Steelers reportedly opened the 21-day practice window for starting tight end Pat Freiermuth to return, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who’s expected to suit up for the Week 11 match. Freiermuth missed the past five games with a hamstring injury he suffered at the beginning of October and has been on injured reserve since Oct. 21.
Prior to his injury, Freiermuth caught eight passes for 53 yards and two touchdowns in four games for the Steelers at the beginning of the season. He’s averaged 3.8 receptions for 38.4 yards per game since the Steelers drafted him in the second round in 2021.
The Browns have been pretty solid against tight ends all season. When Freiermuth played Cleveland in Week 2, he only caught one pass for two years.
As for the rest of the year, the Browns allowed just 22 receptions for 204 yards and two touchdowns over the past nine games, and only tight end caught more than three passes or tallied at least 50 yards in a contest: Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews in Week 4. The Browns bottled up Andrews in their second meeting, though.
