Last week, T.J. Watt went viral for posting a video of himself falling into his pool while trying to clean it. The video received responses from all over social media, including from his brother J.J. and many Steelers fans. J.J. even went so far as to call it “the most TJ video” he’s ever seen.
At Steelers practice on Thursday, Watt addressed the video for the first time. While he isn’t quite sure what happened, he did joke that his athleticism saved him from a bigger incident.
“I don’t know how I missed a step but I did,” he said, via Amanda Godsey of the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat. “A lesser athlete would’ve gotten hurt.”
Watt was the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2021, and he placed among the top three for the award three straight years between 2019 and ’21. Clearly, he’s an elite athlete, even by NFL standards.
The next time Watt goes to clean his pool, we hope he’ll be extra careful not to repeat the incident.
