Steelers QB Russell Wilson could exact revenge if playoff seeding goes unchanged

If the NFL playoffs happened today, the Pittsburgh Steelers would host the Denver Broncos as the No. 3 and 6 seeds.

Russell Wilson wasn’t healthy enough to play when the Steelers faced the Broncos in Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season. In this potential rematch, Wilson will be looking to prove a point against the Denver team that moved on from him just two years after handing him a massive contract extension. Fortunately for Steelers Nation, Wilson has been a key part of Pittsburgh’s success this season, enjoying a career resurgence in black and gold.

Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix has grown tremendously since he last faced the Steelers. Still, Pittsburgh’s dominant defense—allowing just 18.3 points per game (fifth-fewest in the league)—had his number earlier in the season, forcing two interceptions and keeping the Broncos out of the end zone in a gritty 13-6 victory. On the flip side, the Broncos boast a scoring defense that allows just 18 points per game (tied-second), setting the stage for another defensive showdown.

This potential rematch promises to be a battle, but both teams still have work to do before locking in their playoff seeding. For the Steelers, it all comes down to their Week 16 matchup with the Ravens, which will determine control of the AFC North and the inside track to a home playoff game.

Buckle up, Steelers fans—this is what December football is all about.
