Just after the Pittsburgh Steelers made it official that Mitch Trubisky was the team’s starting quarterback to start the season, the team shuffled the depth chart and there was one huge surprise.
Star rookie and first-round pick Kenny Pickett is QB3 behind trubisky and Mason Rudolph. Most assumed the battle for the No. 1 spot was between Trubisky and Pickett but for the team, they feel most comfortable with the veterans dressing on gameday while the rookie Pickett learns.
The Steelers never dress three quarterbacks on gameday so fans of Pickett will have to be patient before they even see their guy in uniform on Sundays. Trubisky was signed as a free agent and I’m sure the coaches believe he’s the safest option and gives the Steelers the best chance to win now.
Pittsburgh kicks off their regular season on Sunday with a road showdown against AFC North champs the Cincinnati Bengals.
