We are just over a week away from the NFL Scouting Combine so we decided to do an updated 2024 mock draft for the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of the combine. Once the combine comes and goes there will be plenty of movement so here is our last stab at the Steelers picks for the NFL draft before every pundit’s draft board shuffles.
First round - OT Amarius Mims, Georgia
It might feel a little on the nose to give the Steelers another Georgia offensive tackle but the way the round unraveled, he was definitely the top option on the board.
Second round - QB Michael Penix Jr., Washington
This is something of a wild card pick here but it is worth a flyer if Michael Penix can do what he did at Washington in an NFL offense. His athleticism is off the charts and he is fearless when he starts to sling it around.
Third round - LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Clemson
The bloodlines are there with Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and the Steelers need another playmaker at inside linebacker.
Fourth round - WR Malik Washington, Virginia
If Malik Washington lasts this long, he’s a bargain to the Steelers. Washington is a gifted route runner, has strong hands and his ability to run after the catch makes him a natural slot receiver.
Fourth round - C Beaux Limmer, Arkansas
Limmer had a strong week at the Senior Bowl aside from a few losses in one-on-ones and established himself as a high-ceiling player and NFL starter.
Sixth round - DT Evan Anderson, Florida Atlantic
Evan Anderson isn’t well known but he is a massive defensive tackle and a strong run defender who just eats up blockers in the middle of the line.
Seventh round - P Tory Taylor, Iowa
Tory Taylor is the best punter in the draft and an immediate upgrade over Pressley Harvin III.
