NFL draft analyst Chad Reuter has put out his annual projection for the NFL All-Rookie Team. Just going over this roster, really brings into focus just how good the 2023 rookie class is. It would be easy to do a second team with players practically just as talented and impactful.
The Pittsburgh Steelers landed one rookie on the list with offensive tackle Broderick Jones getting the nod.
Left tackle was a major issue for the Steelers last year. It won’t be in 2023 if Jones uses his athleticism to play balanced in pass pro and gets after this man in the run game. It might take the 22-year-old two or three games to get used to the speed and power of veteran edge rushers, but he’ll eventually find his groove.
While we are fine with Jones getting the nod here even though his starting status is a bit in the air, the exclusion of cornerback Joey Porter Jr. is something to keep an eye on. Porter has been impressive in minicamp and looks to be inching toward a starting job as well.
