On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced they had interviewed current ESPN analyst Louis Riddick for their upcoming general manager opening. The Steelers and the rest of the NFL are all in Indianapolis this week for the NFL scouting combine so we assume the interview took place there.
Riddick was floated out as an interview candidate some time ago and is one of more than a dozen guys in the running to replace current GM Kevin Colbert after the 2022 NFL draft.
Since 2013, Riddick has been an NFL expert for ESPN. Prior to that, Riddick’s more recent work in the league was as the Philadelphia Eagles director of pro personnel. A position Riddick held from 2010-2013.
Despite Riddick’s lack of recent NFL experience, he has become a fan favorite. Riddick is an easy guy for fans to root for because he’s known. Most of the other candidates interviewed are guys buried in the org charts of their teams while Riddick is constantly on television.
