According to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero, the Pittsburgh Steelers are hosting former Florida guard O’Cyrus Torrence for a pre-draft visit. Torrence is the top interior offensive lineman in the 2023 NFL draft.
The Steelers have made improving the interior offensive line a major focus of free agency. Pittsburgh signed guards Nate Herbig and Isaac Seumalo as upgrades at guard and/or center.
These additions make this attention on Torrence somewhat puzzling. He’s a lock for a first-round pick but it doesn’t feel like a position of need for the Steelers at this point worthy of that pick.
The one caveat to this would be if Pittsburgh wants to move to start right guard James Daniels to center and open up right guard for Torrense. Putting Seumalo at left guard would give the Steelers a dominant interior offensive line. Then the rest of the guys on the roster could battle it out to provide backup on the depth chart.
Florida OL O’Cyrus Torrence is visiting the #Steelers today and the #Commanders tomorrow, per source. “Cybo” is a likely first-round pick; Washington picks 16th and Pittsburgh 17th.
