Just when everyone had written off the Pittsburgh Steelers, they go out and do something like this. A hobbled Steelers defense helped carry the day and help pull off the 20-18 upset win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Buy Steelers TicketsOn offense, the story was quarterback Mitch Trubisky. Trubisky came in after rookie Kenny Pickett suffered a concussion early in the second half and took control of the offense. Trubisky found wide receiver Chase Claypool over and over again including a passing touchdown and even ran the ball when needed to seal the victory.
No one game the Steelers defense a shot against Bucs quarterback Tom Brady with four starting defensive backs out. But the team rallied, played smart, aggressive football and kept Brady in check. Brady finished with 241 passing yards but struggled to finish drives. Thanks to inspired play from guys like cornerback James Pierre and linebacker Devin Bush, the Steelers defense kept them in the game long enough for the offense to seal the victory.
The win, paired with a loss by the Baltimore Ravens means Pittsburgh is now only one game out of the lead a crowded AFC North. Pittsburgh now has to prepare to head to Miami to take on the Dolphins on Sunday Night Football.
