Steelers bring in G Steve Avila for visit ahead of 2023 NFL draft

Despite the fact they have signed two guards in free agency, the Pittsburgh Steelers continue to scout the top guards in the 2023 NFL draft. The team has already had a pre-draft visit with Florida guard O’Cyrus Torrence and now, according to Steelers beat writer Ray Fittipaldo, Pittsburgh is also hosting former TCU guard Steve Avila.

Pittsburgh signed Nate Herbig and Isaac Seumalo in free agency to help bolster the interior offensive line. Seumalo should replace Kevin Dotson at left guard and Herbig brings talent to both guard and center as a key reserve.

Avila’s strength is as an interior pass protector, showing both quickness and coordination as well as plenty of power to slow down bull rushers. Avila is also versatile as he has two seasons as the TCU starting center before switching to guard in 2022.
