On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Steelers welcomed in two more NFL draft prospects for pre-draft visits. One of those players is former Bowling Green defensive tackle Karl Brooks.
Brooks is one of those tweener types of defensive tackles the Steelers love to bring in because they have the strength to hold up on the interior but the length and burst to rush the passer off the edge in Pittsburgh’s 3-4 defense. Brooks checked in at 6-foot-3 and 303 pounds and showed some solid athleticism with 10 sacks in 2022.
In terms of his draft stock, Brooks is a nice pick in the fourth round and a value pick in the fifth. He has the ability to develop into a rotational starter. However, at this point, it isn’t clear how he would fit into the Steelers rotation with the additions of Breiden Fehoko and Armon Watts. Pittsburgh also has Cam Heyward, Montravius Adams, Larry Ogunjobi and DeMarvin Leal which rounds out a really solid depth chart.
