On Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced they were hiring former Carolina Panthers wide receivers coach Frisman Jackson for the same role in Pittsburgh.
Jackson was the Panthers wide receivers coach for the past two seasons and has worked in that capacity at the NFL and college level since 2008. Jackson and Steeler offensive coordinator Matt Canada have a history together. Canada was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at North Carolina State from 2013-2015. From 2013-2014, Jackson coached the wide receivers for North Carolina State.
The Steelers wide receivers took a significant step back last season and while it hasn’t been formally announced that Ike Hilliard was fired as WR coach, it makes sense Pittsburgh wants to take the position in a different direction for the upcoming season.
We have named Frisman Jackson as our wide receivers coach.
