On Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced three new jersey numbers for players on the current roster. This included newly-signed cornerback Desmond King as well as EDGE Markus Golden and linebacker Kwon Alexander.
King will be wearing No. 25 for his new team. This lines up with the number her wore when he played for the Houston Texans. Steelers fans probably associate No. 25 most recently with cornerback Artie Burns.
Buy Steelers TicketsGolden switched his number to No. 44 ahead of the start of the regular season. During the preseason, Golden had worn No. 54 but went back to his number from when he played for the Arizona Cardinals.
Finally, there’s Alexander who was forced into a number change after sharing No. 26 with running back Anthony McFarland Jr. in the preseason. Alexander will instead wear No. 54. We had secretly hoped the Steelers might let Alexander go with a single-digit number, perhaps even being the player to get the coveted No. 0.
