According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher Alex Highsmith has agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension. The extension is worth $68 million over four years and will put him among the highest-paid edge rushers in the NFL.
Highsmith finished 2022 with 14.5 sacks which was fourth-best in the NFL. He was also heading into the final year of his contract and the Steelers knew if he had a repeat performance, he might price himself right out of a contract with the Steelers.
The Steelers now have the most dynamic and most expensive pass-rushing tandem in the NFL. In the 2022 offseason, T.J. Watt signed a four-year, $112 million extension which wraps up $180 million in total contracts between the two players.
