State Pension provides essential financial support every four weeks for around 12.4 million people across the UK, including 981,399 living in Scotland and for some, it is their only source of income during their retirement years.
This regular payment is delivered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and is available for those who have reached the UK Government’s eligible retirement age and paid enough National Insurance Contributions, which is now 66 for both men and women.
People eligible for the full, new State Pension will receive £185.15 per week until April 2023, while anyone on the 'old' basic State Pension (category A or B), will be paid £141.85 per week.
