House-hunting is rarely an enjoyable activity and moving house is said to be one of the most stressful things you can do in life. Whether you’re a serious property buyer or if you’re just day-dreaming of that multi-million pound mansion for when you win the lottery, it is easy to spend hours online searching for that perfect property.
A Dorset property for sale is forcing house-hunters to stop the scroll thanks to an odd fixture in one corner of the house. The house which is listed at an estate agent in Poole is drawing attention owing to its life-size statue standing serenely in the front room.
The statue’s likeness to Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage is causing potential home-buyers to double-take and provide a talking point drawing additional attention to the property. Viewers can see the statue in the house that is being marketed by Leader Fox.
The strange sighting can't be viewed online via the listing gallery, but it does show up when looking at the property via the 360 virtual tour. As you pan around the front room, in the corner lies a tall-standing bronze-coloured statute of a monk, which some say resembles Hollywood-actor Nicolas Cage.
As reported in DorsetLive, the bizarre 6ft wooden structure is of Saint Francis of Assisi which stands in the corner of the front room of a property which is currently on the market for £375,000. The house itself is bright and airy and completely unassuming with nothing to suggest it contains an odd-looking, Nicolas Cage-esq statue.
The carving of Saint Francis of Assisi is ornate and shows him wearing a long robe with rosary beads hanging from his waist as he holds a cross. It is said to have once stood at a church in Bournemouth before the previous owners decided to display this in their own home.
Although the Leader Fox listing has noted that "the owners are giving the potential buyers a choice of carpet colour upstairs," it's uncertain whether the statute comes with the property. However, it seems the listing has provided an unusual shock factor for many potential homeowners looking for a home to live in.
The property is located on Ashley Road, Poole in the BH14 area. It offers four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a lounge with bay windows and a decent sized garden with patio.
Many of the rooms are also fitted with modern furnishings, which provides quite the contrast to the ancient-looking statue. Viewers of this property have taken to the Internet to share their thoughts of the statue.
While some have likened the structure to award-winning actor Nicolas Cage, others have said it reminds them of the Weeping Angels in Doctor Who. Either way, the statue has caused shock and horror to many.
We just hope the statue doesn't put off too many potential buyers. You can view the full listing of this property on the Leader Fox website here.
