Start worrying for your favorites as Jack Quaid says The Boys season 5 isn't going to be a "fairytale ending in any regard": "We really do mean that"

Jack Quaid as Hughie in The Boys season 5.

Hughie star Jack Quaid has warned that The Boys season 5 will not see the gang living happily ever after.

This is the final season of the Prime Video superhero satire, so, naturally, it's time to start getting worried about the fate of your favorite character.

"No, in no way," laughed Quaid when asked by Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show if the series would have a fairytale happy ending. "No, it's The Boys. It's not going to be a fairytale ending in any regard. This is the final season, and we really do mean that. There are characters, I won't say who, who meet their end, and it's crazy, it's really, really nuts.

"And it was emotional," he continued. "I'm covered in blood a lot on the show, and it was so weird to be covered in blood and various goos, and then to just like also be emotional about that, where I'm like, 'I'm really gonna miss this,' and I'm just drenched head to toe. But, it's just been the honor of my life, I truly love the show and everyone involved."

This matches up with what Starlight actor Erin Moriarty previously teased about the ending, too. "There's going to be a lot of shock, there's going to be a lot of laughter, there's humor. There's everything that you would imagine, but the emotional gravity of it kind of caught me by surprise," she said of the finale. "It's a show that makes you laugh and makes you gasp, but has it made people sob as much as it will in the final season? In my opinion, it's going to be really emotional."

Consider us terrified for Hughie, Starlight, and the others when The Boys season 5 hits Prime Video this April 8.
