Starstruck viewers stunned as they recognise Chaka Khan tribute as former X Factor finalist

Viewers were feeling nostalgic as they recognised a contestant on the ITV talent show Starstruck from The X Factor. After watching the final of The Masked Singer, music fans were in for another treat as superfans transformed into their idols to sing their classic songs.

Each team of singers experienced the ultimate star makeover as they transformed into their icon before stepping onto the stage, watched by judges Adam Lambert, Beverley Knight, Jason Manford and Shania Twain. As team Chaka Khan took to the stage fans were stunned as they clocked a familiar face from the Simon Cowell singing contest The X Factor.

They recognised West End singer Treyc Cohen from series seven of the show, which was shelved in 2021 after launching in 2004. Treyc made it to the finals in the girls category mentored by Cheryl in 2010.

@j11_lee gasped on Twitter: "OMG ITS TREYC!!!" @justnaomiyeh pointed out: "Treyc from X Factor series 7?!" @mark_omeara89 said: "It’s X Factor’s Treyc Cohen, no." And @chris_doyle86 also asked: "Is that Trayc Cohen from Xfactor?"

Treyc mentioned being in the West End in shows including Hairspray and The Lion King, but didn't mention The X Factor. As she got set to sing for Cheryl at Judges Houses, the Girls Aloud star told Treyc: "Whenever you're ready," to which the singer replied: "I'm ready," prompting Cheryl to tell her: "You said that with some determination!"

Treyc was no stranger to the Judges' Houses stage having reached the stage in 2009, before being rejected by Simon. She returned the following year to prove him wrong.
