Keir Starmer is leaving Parliament altogether, just weeks after his time as Prime Minister came to an end, in a striking reversal of his earlier plan to remain an MP until the next general election.

The former Labour leader has announced that he will stand down as MP for Holborn and St Pancras, ending an 11-year parliamentary career and triggering a by-election in the north London constituency.
